A military firing range named after ‘Sherni’ actress Vidya Balan, for her contribution to Indian Cinema

Actress Vidya Balan who is enjoying the success of her latest released film ‘Sherni’ is making the headlines once again. The actress was recently invited to join the governing body behind Oscars. But, this time the actress must be gushing over the happiness for achieving something unexpected.

Soon after being invited to join the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and sciences, the Sherni actress has achieved a military firing range named after her. Earlier this year, the actress attended the Gulmarg Winter Festival in Kashmir organised by the Indian Army. While honouring the varied works of Vidya Balan in cinema, the Indian army named a military firing range in Gulmarg, Kashmir after her name as ‘Vidya Balan Firing Range’.

Vidya Balan is one of those actresses of Bollywood who is doing most women-centric films. She has a commercial brand value and can lift a film on her shoulders. She has been a pioneer in addressing women empowerment and social issues through her films.

Her latest film Sherni where she played a Forest officer opens up with a positive response from the critics. This was her second Direct to OTT release after Shakuntala Devi, a biopic last year. She must have been gushing over the happiness of achieving new milestones every day.
