Lamba recently opened up about her divorce from her estranged husband, Ryan Tham, in an interview. Keep reading to find out what she had to say.
In contrast to how she has discussed her divorce from husband Ryan Tham, Minissha Lamba has never shied away from talking about her separation from him in the films Bachna Ae Haseeno, Kidnap, Honeymoon Travels, or any of her other movies. For those who aren’t as familiar with this duo, the duo that tied the knot in 2015 announced the split after being married for about five years. She recently opened up about her divorce from Ryan to the Navbharat Times, and she emphasised that everyone has the right to be happy.
The leading daily asked her if the separation was hard, and the actress answered that society formerly had an unfavourable view of divorce, but now that women are able to speak for themselves and no longer depend on their husbands, divorce is no longer looked down upon. However, she also pointed out, “Up until recently, only women had to bear the weight of a relationship. The sacrifices were all on their shoulders. People are starting to realize that if they are unhappy in their marriage, they have the right to walk out.”
She added, “I know divorce isn’t always easy, but when your relationship is toxic, you should walk away.
Having a relationship or getting married is part of a healthy and fulfilling life, but it cannot make up your whole life. In general, women are acknowledged based on their marital and relationship status. Although, things are undergoing change.”
The actress made the observation. In her own words, she added that her separation has not turned her into a cynical person about relationships and love.
“I’m getting a divorce. We parted on good terms. The separation is now official.”
