Mirabai Chanu wins silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics, netizens celebrates the proud moment

The Olympics have just begun and we, the people, have already got a reason to celebrate as the Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu brought a medal home.

Mirabai Chanu has won a silver medal in the women’s 49 kg category weightlifting. Despite the nationwide excitement for her achievement, a video has surfaced online in which Mirabai’s family and neighbors from Manipur can be seen cheering her accomplishment.

Recently speaking to NDTV, Mirabai Chanu expressed that she would like to eat pizza as she was following strict and healthy diet for the past few years. The pizza chain, Domino’s, has promised her free pizzas for life for bringing the medal home. The tweet of Dominos India reads as “@Mirabai_chanu Congratulations on bringing the medal home! You brought the dreams of a billion+ Indians to life and we couldn’t be happier to treat you to FREE Domino’s pizza for life  Congratulations again!!”.

Mirabai Chanu, the 26-year-old athlete, won a silver medal in the 49-kg women’s weightlifting category on Saturday which marks India’s first medal in the ongoing 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The netizens took to their Twitter handles to share the achievement of Mirabai Chanu. One of the Twitter user wrote as “What an amazing start to India’s @Tokyo2020 campaign. Congratulations @mirabai_chanu for making us all proud and bringing us glory. Super happy” while another wrote “We watched each second you were on screen. You were strong 135 crore India hope .
