Touted to be this year’s highly anticipated film, Jagan Shakti’s Mission Mangal will hit silver screens on August 15. Starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen, Sharman Joshi, and HG Dattatreya, Mission Mangal tells the tale of the Mars mission, Mangalyaan.

The movie revolves around the inspiring story of the scientists who led the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Mission Mars project. The makers have just dropped another trailer that will inspire you and evoke pride.

The 2 minute and 10-second video beautifully encapsulate the story and conceptualization behind the making of the expedition. The story is infused with humour, sentiments and a dream that becomes a reality. Led by Akshay and Vidya, the movie is a story of ordinary people who strive for nothing less than greatness.

Earlier, makers of the film had released a teaser and a trailer of the film. The makers also released a song, Dil Mein Mars Hai that hit the right chord with the audience.

Numerous reports suggest that Mission Mangal is inspired by Hollywood film, Hidden Figures. In a recent interview, director Jagan Shakti revealed that his sister works in ISRO and that helped him interact with the actual team.

He said, “My sister Sujata works there, so I did extensive interviews with the team of the Mangalyaan mission. ISRO was helpful in terms of giving us access to the material and scientists. The right balance between the art director and the VFX team helped us design the rocket, which was the most important component of the film. While we had the exact diagrams in possession, we couldn’t have designed a similar-looking device.”

Speaking about the comparisons, he goes on to add, “That film was about racism; this film is inspired by the picture of women in sarees and gajras looking thrilled at the mission’s launch.”
