Mithun Chakraborty turns 73 today and we think of it just yesterday when he made his debut in the Bollywood Film Industry and soon became a legendary actor. Facts :

Before entering into the film industry, Mithun Chakraborty attended and graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Mithun Chakraborty was a Naxalite before stepping into the film industry and during his days as a Naxalite, he was good friends with Ravi Ranjan, a famous Naxalite figure who is popularly known for his manipulative skills.

Mithun Chakraborty has a black belt in Martial Arts

To this day, Mithun Chakraborty has won four National Awards, three of them as Best Actor — Mrigayaa (1976), Agneepath (1990) and the Bengali film Tahader Katha (1992).

He also won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1998 film ‘Swami Vivekananda’.

Mithun Chakraborty is the Chairperson of Film Studios Setting & Allied Mazdoor Union, which works for and looks after the welfare of cine workers.

Just like any other actor, even he had his struggling days in the industry and during that time he was an assistant dancer to Helen under the name Rana Rej.

Mithun Chakraborty recently revealed that during his days of struggle when he used to dance on stage, he was not even sure whether he would be able to manage to get his meal for the day.

Much before becoming a lead actor in a film, Mithun Chakraborty had an important role in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘Do Anjaane’ which came out in 1976.

In the 80s, Mithun Chakraborty kept being in the headlines for his extra-marital affair with late actress Sridevi, which is still termed as ‘rumors’.
