At that time, I was young and had very little experience and knowledge of Akhara culture. But after some time, I became familiar with the environment and friendly with the saints. Whenever the Kumbh draws close, they inform me about the work of illumination.”
Mehmood runs an electrical shop in Muzaffarnagar also revealed that the status who attended this world-class event treats him like one of them.
“They respect me like a family member. Though I earn money here, spiritual contentment is more important now. I also learn good things from the company of sadhus. I feel proud and happy to be a part of the Kumbh.”
Since 1986, he is attending almost all the Kumbh except the Mela that was held in Nashik. However, be accepted that he had never counted how many meals he has visited.

They give me the same food which they eat. I feel spiritually elated here, “I have seen him at nearly every Kumbh Mela I’ve been to. I never even bothered to ask him, his real name. For us, he is, and will always be, simply ‘Mullah Ji’ – our friend.”
