Bollywood has always tried to show emotions and bonds between the characters very effectively and relatable for the audience, may it be a story of Dharam-Veer or Karan-Arjun, the love and affection between the brothers stays the same though the story travels through obstacles and twists. Here are few of the movies from late 19th century which have superstars of Bollywood playing as brothers on screen. These characters of the film may give you glimpse of your bonds with your family on a relatable note.

1) Johny Mera Naam:

This film was released in 1979, starring Dev Anand and Pran in lead as brothers. This Crime thriller movie shows Pran as Dev’s lost brother and they reunite during the crime investigation. Hema Malini is seen playing female lead in the movie.

2) Deewar:

Deewar, was released in 1975, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor as brother. Story shows about the rivalry between the two, they face eac other on opposite sides of law. Nirupa Roy and Parveen Babi played female leads roles in the movie. ” Aaj mere pas gadi hai, bungla hai, paisa hai, tumhare pass kya hai ?”……. ” Mere pass Ma hai” is the most iconic conversation between the characters of the movie and which is evergreen till today.

3) Dharam-Veer:

The movie was released in 1977 and was the blockbuster of the time, Dharmendra and Jeetendra played brother who were parted from each other at the birth and reunites as best friends without even knowing their true bonds.

4) Amar Akbar Anthony:

Again a blockbuster movie of the 70’s released in 1977, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna in the lead roles. The three siblings gets apart from each other due to an accident and the were raised by three different cultural surroundings, the trio gets United in the end of the movie.

5) Ram-Lakhan:

Movie was released in 1989 starring Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor in the lead, a story of two brothers who struggles to get a prosperous life with their own ways, and where at a situation the younger brother get caught in a trouble and the older one rush to help him. The movie also stars Madhuri Dixit in the lead. Movie also gave audience the most popular song of the period ‘My name is Lakhan’.

6) Hum:

Movie was released in 1991 starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth and Govinda, the movie revolves around the family and their rivalry with a gangster, the brother trio make the gangster bend on his knees and apologize for his behaviour. The movie was average on Box office collections. ” Chumma Chumma de de, Chumma Chumma de de Chumma” was the most famous song of the film.

7) Yeh Dillagi:

Released in year 1994 the movie stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, the brother duo Vikram and Vijay, who fall in love with their driver’s daughter, Sapna (Kajol), who is also a successful model. The film also stars Kajol in female lead role.

8) Karan-Arjun:

Released in 1995 the movie talks about the story of brothers who gets rebirth with the same old memories, their fate brings them back to their native place to get revenge of their past life. The movie stars the best brother duo in history of Indian Cinema Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan. The well choreographed action scenes from the movie were quite famous.

9) Hum Sath Sath Hai:

The film was released in year 1999 starring with a huge starcast primarily with key roles including Mohnish Behl, Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan, this pure family dram was hugely appreciated and was a blockbuster of the industry. Film also stars Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Karishma Kapoor. The films still represents the Indian ideal family and the Indian family drama.

10) Kachche Dhaage:

Thefilm was released in year 1999 starring Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan, this is the first step brother duo film of Bollywood, Ajay is a smuggler who smuggle drugs at Rajasthan-Pakistan border, while Saif is the younger brother who enjoys his lavish city life, both the characters are united with chain of events.
