More than 300 people including famous personalities like Naseeruddin Shah, Mira Nair, Ratna Pathak Shah, Jaaved Jafferi, vocalist TM Krishna, Amitav Ghosh, Anita Desai, Nandita Das, Shabnam Hashmi, Romila Thapar, and many others have shown their support to the students voicing their opinions against CAA-NRC by releasing an open letter on Indian Cultural Forum. The signatories have vocalized their views against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The open letter released on the Indian Cultural Forum states that the signatories will remain with the people who stand for democracy.

The statement in the open letter from the members of the Creative and Scholarly Community in India reads, “We are actors, movie producers, authors and literature writers. Our work mirrors individuals’ lives, struggles, and expectations. Our vision for this country demands to hear some noise from us now, for the sake of our democracy and the constitution that secures it.”

Meanwhile, some days back, veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah had started a discussion on the internet when he bashed Bollywood actor Anupam Kher for being vocal on his views and furthermore called him a clown. Anupam Kher didn’t stop and replied to Naseeruddin Shah by posting a video of his answer on Twitter. Naseeruddin Shah was also in the news for backing Deepika Padukone’s visit to JNU, he even lauded the actress for standing with the students.
