Om Puri’s birthdate was not clear as he was child, his mother told him that he was born two days after Dussehra. While he joined school, his uncle chose March 9 as his official birthday, but when he moved to Mumbai he changed his birthday to 18th October.
He comes from such a financially weak background, that at the age of six, he was working at Dhabas. Who would have known that this kid would go on to become an immortal star in the field of cinema.
Not many know, but Om Puri was very close to Naseeruddin Shah. The two of them were classmates at the National School of Drama and they worked in some iconic films such as Aakrosh, Droh Kaal, Sparsh and many more.
Not just in Bollywood, Om Puri is a very renowned name in regional cinema as well. Add to that the fact that he was also part of many British films such as My Son The Fanatic, East Is East and The Parole Officer, makes us respect the man even more.
Personally, Om Puri was an introvert. While in his NSD days, he did not have much confidence and even talking to girls was difficult for him. Later, he worked on this aspect of himself.
