Oscar-winning movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actor Azharuddin Ismail gets back to slums

Remember Azharuddin Ismail aka Salim from the Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’? 

He was given the role of Salim the brother of the lead actor Jamaal in Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. He was chosen from a pool of 300 children and was just 10 years of age. With his stellar performance, he ruled millions of hearts.

To tell you, Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won eight Oscars awards. Azharuddin too graced the award night and was high on success and fame. He was also a flat and a monthly allowance by the trust.

Azharuddin, who is now 21, once shared the stage with the famous Hollywood stars has moved back to the slums with his family.

Recently, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Azharuddin and his family opened up about their struggles and financial situation. Azharuddin sold his Rs 49 lakh Santacruz flat and is living with his family in Jalna. He did so because the trust stopped the allowance when Azharuddin turned 18 and now it is very difficult for the family to manage the financial needs of its members. His mom, Shameema, uncovered that Azharuddin couldn’t acclimate to the living conditions of the slums and has been recovering there. She likewise expressed that he endured a misfortune when he invested in a business. Her mother even revealed that he is in a bad company and has lost all his stardom.

Apart from Azharuddin, a girl named Rubina Qureshi was also casted in the movie and was receiving the money allowance. He is a makeup artist and is pursuing fashion designing
