The Panchayat series, which is streaming on OTT giant Amazon Prime has garnered a lot of praises from the audience. A sequel of the same, titled Panchayat 2, rolled out recently, and was greeted well by the critics. The director of the sequel, Deepak Kumar Mishra has gone viral on social media, not only because of his show, but because of the revelation of his role in a spoof of the popular reality show, Roadies.
The spoof, titled Rowdies, happens to be a project he did more than a decade back. And what adds to this is that he played the role of Raghu in that. Deepak Kumar Mishra confessed that he felt astounded at how people still remember the show. “The spoof really got popular but it’s unbelievable how people still remember it, and are talking about it, and sharing memes. It does feel good and I don’t think there’s any harm in it,” he said at a recent interview.
He also talked about the spoof went on to go viral to levels that they did not expect, and it was an amazing experience. “We were however careful to not go personal. We were scared of receiving a backlash and we handled it with maturity,” he added.
He also made it clear that he doesn’t plan to act anymore and is happy to stick to direction. “It was for plain fun, and even when I acted, I would also assist the director. This was because I have always wanted to be a director,” he said.
