Prakash Raj’s scene slapping a character for him speaking Hindi starts online debate

South actor Suriya starrer, Jai Bhim is one most highly anticipated movies of the year. The film which released on Amazon Prime video has received great response from the audience as well as the critics. However one particular scene which features Prakash Raj has started an only debate.

In the scene, Prakash Raj, who plays the role of a cop, is seen slapping a character, pawnbroker, for speaking Hindi. Prakash Raj’s character then asks the pawnbroker to speak in Tamil instead.

This scene has triggered a massive debate among the netizens, as some claims it publicises anti-Hindi sentiments, while others are trying to defend it, saying it needed to be seen in the context of the film.

One of the user wrote, “Having pride for your mother tongue is fine, but encouraging hatred/violence against others for not speaking it is most certainly not.” While another tweet read, “Prakash Raj doesn’t slap the pawn broker for speaking in Hindi. He slaps him because he knew the broker was lying and that he used Hindi to cover his tracks.”
