“Prem Naam Hai Mera, Prem Chopra,” chances are that you might have heard this dialogue and the actor who recited this dialogue celebrates his 84th birthday today. Prem Chopra, born in Punjab while the state was still a part of Pakistan, is a living legend amongst men.

On social media, wishes keep pouring in for the iconic actor who was part of the Hindi and Punjabi film industry for well over 60 years or so. His iconic dialogue was first seen in the film Bobby and since then, the actor has become synonymous with the dialogue. For us young fans who could not see him in his peak he will always be a legend.

Over the course of his career, Prem Chopra was a part of close to 400 movies. A ming boggling number when you consider how long the shooting for a single movie lasted in his period.

Personally, the man is a soft-spoken idol who almost ironically is best remembered for being the face of an antagonist. Ask any middle-aged man, and he will tell you about the charming combination of Rajesh Khanna and Prem Chopra. It still remains one of the most loved and adored hero-villain jodi.

Rajesh Khanna and Prem Chopra’s reel life may always pit them against each other but in real life, the two were best buddies. Their friendship lasted till Rajesh Khanna’s last breath in 2012.

“Rajesh Khanna and I were considered a lucky pair and distributors used to tell Rajesh Khanna that we don’t care who your heroine is, all we want to know is whether Prem Chopra is in the film,” Prem Chopra was quoted as saying regarding his buddy Rajesh Khanna previously.

On a relevant note, we would like to wish the actor a very happy birthday and good health.
