Actress Mandakini is popular for her performance in the 1985 classic film ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ directed by Raj Kapoor starring late Rajiv Kapoor in the lead role. The actress made her last appearance in 2002 in a Bengali film ‘Se Amar Prem’. As per the reports of ETimes, Mandakini is looking for a comeback after her absence from the Hindi film industry for about two decades. Reportedly, the actress might soon announce her comeback as she is currently reading scripts. Talking to ETimes, Mandakini’s brother Bhanu said that she refused the leading part offered to her in a daily soap ‘Chhoti Sardarni’.
Bahubhai Thiba, Mandakini’s manager told ETimes about her comeback and said “Mandakini is definitely making a comeback and at present reading scripts and inviting narrations, too. She is open to working in web series and films, but wants to play central characters in the projects”. He further added that Mandakini wishes to address media but only at a later date and currently, the actress is busy finalizing her project. He stated that she wishes to select the project for her return to the film industry.
Speaking about her popularity and convincing her to make a comeback to the big screen, Mandakini’s brother Bhanu told that “When she would visit Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata, I could see that she still has a huge fan following. So, I told her that she must start acting again. She was offered the central role in a serial called ‘Chhoti Sardani’, which Mandakini refused but she suggested Anita Raaj’s name for the role instead”.
Mandakini has worked in 48 movies in her career over 17 years. The actress has also worked in some Telugu films other than Hindi and Bengali movies.
