Richa Chadha, an actress, says she has actively worked to break through the clutter of repeated work, even if it has meant taking risks, which most people in the profession are unaware of.
Chadha has worked in the industry for almost a decade, appearing in films such as Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, Neeraj Ghaywan’s Masaan, comedy franchise Fukrey, Amazon Prime Video series Inside Edge, and this year’s political drama Madam Chief Minister.
The actor claimed she’s gotten through the highs and lows by going into unknown, creative territory without attempting to “butter” people into work.
“I’ve been on the outskirts of this industry here for so long that I don’t think they understand me.” I’m always compared to the uncomfortable smile GIF that can be found on the internet.
Chadha told PTI, ‘Oh, she can say whatever she wants, she looks like a b***sy, the things she’s saying are compassionate, but the way she’s saying them may come across as borderline unpleasant,’ they think. I have a hard time getting people to understand me. But that makes no difference to me. She can’t seem to get anyone to like me. Chadha have the quality to provide.”
The 34-year-old actor claims that the films and shows she chose during her career are now considered standard in the industry.
Everyone is doing the kind of work I’ve advocated for my entire life. When ‘Inside Edge’ was released in 2017, it was criticized. They contacted and informed me that I had been dismissed and that my career was gone. They were dismissive of web series as a format.”
The actor stated that she has tried to shake things up in her career and has always pushed the boundaries with her work, even if it hasn’t always been received with the same intent she had.
