Gorgeous South Indian beauty, Samantha Akkineni is currently gearing up for her upcoming film Oh Baby. The film is a remake of Korean hit Miss Granny and revolves around the story of a seventy-year-old woman who enters the body of a twenty-year-old girl.
The actress has been a revelation in South Indian cinema and recently she gave two big hits: thriller film Super Deluxe alongside Vijay Sethupathi and the romantic drama Majili opposite husband Naga Chaitanya. In a recent interview, when quizzed about her desire to make it to Bollywood, she had a shocking answer.
Samantha said, “Never!” She went on to share, “Like I just said, I’m from Chennai. That’s like, the south of the South. The thing is, I’m just about understanding my own people and my own culture and what is it that they like to watch in films. I’m still learning about how to get it right, what they want from a film, what is it that they want to see, what they expect from a character when I’m playing it… I am just about figuring that out.”
The actress who made her debut with Telugu film, Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010 said, “I have no idea about the world that is Bollywood. I will just drown and be a complete alien.” Samantha continued to add, “I still feel like I have more to give them, down South.”
It seems like the actress is currently content in doing Tamil and Telugu movies, and will not be moving to Bollywood anytime soon. In another interview, she further revealed that she isn’t getting as many offers for films comparatively before her marriage.
Samantha has delivered several hits including Theri, Rangasthalam, Mersal and Super Deluxe. Currently, she is waiting for the release of Nandini Reddy’s Oh! Baby, which will hit the theatres on July 5.
