Satish Kaushik has stated that he does not desire a remake or sequel to Mr. India. The 1987 film, starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Amrish Puri, is regarded as a cult masterpiece. The Shekhar Kapur film introduced audiences to the renowned villain Mogambo and his equally memorable tagline, as well as becoming a breakthrough in Hindi cinema for its rarely heard superhero genre. The film has been remade in Tamil and Kannada.

Satish Kaushik, who portrayed Calendar in the film, has since stated that the film should not be recreated or given a sequel in the modern-day. The actor stated that no one other than Anil Kapoor could do justice to the character of Mr. India, or Arun Verma and that some aspects should be left untouched.

He told the ETimes, “There are a few films that, in my opinion, should not be touched, whether for a remake or sequel.” Mr. India is one such movie that, in my opinion, should not be recreated since it would not have the same vibe. Mr. India was a collaboration of excellent artists who worked together to make a nice, enjoyable movie. “Everyone believed in the project, from Shekhar Kapoor to Boney Kapoor, Javed Akhtar to special effects, action directors, and the cast and crew, including cinematographer Baba Azmi, action director Veeru Devgan, Peter Periera (special effects camera), Art Director Bijon Das Gupta, choreographer Saroj Khan, and music composers Laxmikant Pyarelal and Nitin Saw

“It’s such an iconic movie with such a fantastic record that if it ever comes out, it can only be pulled off by Anil Kapoor, and no other actor,” Satish remarked.

In 2020, Ali Abbas Zafar, the director, said that he would be making a film called Mr. India. As fans wondered whether the film was a sequel or remake, the director stated, “It’s a brand new film; we’re simply naming it Mr. India.” My film is primarily about the average guy battling a powerful enemy, but it’s done in a modern, trendy style that incorporates science and technology while being relevant to today’s socioeconomic environment.

Anil Kapoor and Satish Kaushik had just reunited for the Netflix film Thar, which also starred Anil’s son, Harsh Vardhan Kapoor. Satish and Anil starred as cops in the May 6 Netflix movie Western Noir.
