Bollywood star, Shah Rukh and Gauri lived in a 3BHK, sea-facing apartment in Bandra before moving into their dreamy home, Mannat. SRK and Gauri revealed pictures of their dream home on the famous Simi Grewal talk show in 1967. They attended the show with their newborn, Aryan Khan. And there’s a lot about Mannat that you probably still do not know including the price of the property when Shah Rukh bought it in 2001.
Interestingly, it was also the requirement of a unique prayer room that led to King Khan investing in a bungalow in Mumbai. According to Zoom TV, the actor wanted to build a prayer room that required a big space.
Talking to a radio station in 2019, the actor revealed reasons why a move to Mannat was necessary, timely, and executed. SRK said he is from Delhi and Delhiites have the concept of living in a Kothi, but in Mumbai, the concept is to live in apartments. In Delhi, even if one is not well off, they still own a small bungalow. SRK added when he came to Mumbai, he was already married and was living in a small apartment with his wife Gauri, and eventually, when, he saw Mannat, it felt like that Delhi Wala Kothi, and so he bought it, and that was the most expensive thing he bought.
Also, some reports suggest that the bungalow first caught King Khan’s attention when he was shooting for ‘Yes Boss’ in 1967. Before SRK bought the Mannat it was owned by a Gujarati businessman, Nariman Dubash, and registered in the name of Bai Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana Trust. Named Villa Vienna, the bungalow was sold to King Khan for Rs. 13.2 crore in 2001. In 2005, SRK and Gauri renamed the home Mannat.
Talking on the work front, SRK was last seen in the film Zero. The film also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in key roles.
