Shahid Kapoor set to play the role of a cricketer in his next film as his first look goes viral, see pics

Fresh off the success of his last flick ‘Kabir Singh’ Shahid Kapoor is now starting to prepare for his next project. The actor is all but set to play the role of a cricketer in the Hindi remake of Telugu film ‘Jersey’. His first look from the yet-untitled film has emerged online and we as fans couldn’t be happier.

Shahid in the picture can be seen in flannels and a headband as he holds a cricket bat. The image is now going viral with various fans taking to social media to show their love towards the actor.

On Twitter, one user wrote, “Ab ki baar 300 cr paar.” Another fan tweeted, “Telugu films seems to be paving way for Bollywood! Way to go Tollywood.” One more user wrote, “Shahid Kapoor crack the code of salman khan success (Remake).”

Talking about the film, Shahid told IANS, “It took me some time to decide what to do next after Kabir Singh. But the minute I saw Jersey, I knew I wanted it to be my next. It is a wonderful, inspiring and personal human journey that I connected with deeply.”

The film will be helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, director of the original film that starrer South Indian actor Nani is the lead role. The story revolves around a character Arjun, who struggles to make a successful career in cricket. Later, circumstances force him to return to cricket at the age of 36.

For the unversed, Shahid Kapoor previous blockbuster hit Kabir Singh too was a remake of South Indian film ‘Arjun Reddy’ and it’s Hindi remake too was directed by the one who helmed the original. Kabir Singh did wonders at the box office and thus expectations will be high again once Shahid takes to the pitch as a cricketer.

Earlier, a report in a leading tabloid added that Shahid had asked for 40 crores as fees for the film. It has been scheduled for an August 28, 2020 release.
