Shakti Mohan is a renowned dancer and choreographer. She turns 35 this year and celebrated her birthday on 12th October. As a dancer she got fame and love from fans. She is known from the reality show ‘Dance India Dance’. She won the second season of the show with her awesome dance skills.
In another dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’, she was selected as a finalist. Apart from the traditional dance form Bharatnatyam, Shakti is fabulous in ballet and contemporary dance form. We saw her in item dance numbers in the films like ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’.
Shakti is from Delhi but from 2006 she is in Mumbai. The diva has three sisters named Neeti Mohan, Mukti Mohan and Kriti Mohan. Though Shakti is a famous dancer now, but she met with an mishap in childhood. Her doctors told that she wouldn’t walk again. She overcame all the negativities with her will power and got all the fame that she deserves.
She was very studious in her school life. Before choosing the dance platform, she had an ambition to be an IAS officer. But after the achievement in Dance India Dance, she set the dance choreographer Saroj Khan as her idol. She was a part of ‘Nachle Ve With Saroj Khan’ too. Later Shakti took part in ‘Dance Plus 3’ as a judge. She had also judged ‘Dance Singapore’ in the year 2015.
She started to learn Bharatnatyam when she was in seventh standard. “I learnt it for eight years. After that, I started learning contemporary (form) and now I am into that only,” said the danseuse, who was inspired to take up dance as a profession after choreographer Terence Lewis cheered her up.
Now she possesses her own dance studio. She owns an online store also named Nritya Shakti, where clothes and accessories related to dance are available.
