Avengers: Endgame has skyrocketed to the top of highest grossing Marvel movie ever. The Marvel Cinematic Universe, kick-started by the Iron Man in 2008, featured Robert Downey Jr as the lead and while it may be the end of the road for RDJ after Endgame, he will not feel the pitch financially courtesy of the lucrative contract he signed with the production studio.
Recently, salaries of the star cast of the Avengers Endgame was revealed, and it was no surprise that Tony Stark aka Robert Downey Jr, tops the list as the highest paid actor. According to a report, the 54-year-old actor signed a “unique financial arrangement” with studio chief Kevin Feige couple of years ago that enabled him to pocket massive paychecks over the course of the next few films.
It is believed that Downey Jr made at least USD 75 million in salary from last year’s blockbuster Avengers Infinity War, which raked up to USD 2 Billion at the global box office. Sources also revealed that the actor received USD 5 million per day for just three days of shooting of the 2017 film Spiderman: Homecoming where he did a small cameo.
All the above-mentioned figures are supposed to be topped by the salary he earned for Avengers Endgame, which has till now earned USD 1.2 billion and is still going strong. To put that into perspective, Bollywood’s highest paid actor Akshay Kumar earns half of what RDJ pocketed for Infinity war alone. Now imagine how mammoth his salary would be for Endgame in comparison to Akshay’s paychecks.
Elsewhere, the report also revealed salaries of Robert’s co-actors, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth. Before Endgame, Captain America aka Chris pocketed a salary in the range of USD 15 million to USD 20 million.
Hemsworth, who originally signed on for five films back in 2010, renegotiated his contract to play Thor in ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’. He also managed to earn between USD 15 million and USD 20 million per film. He is said to be ready for the next phase of MCU films.
