Indian Idol has been very popular Indian reality show. The ongoing Season 12 has become the most loved season among the audience. However, the season has faced backlashes for the unnecessary drama on the show. Now, Singer Sonu Nigam revealed why he didn’t return as the judge of Indian Idol.

The Kal Ho Na Ho singer had judged the first two seasons of the musical reality show. But, he didn’t return as the judge in any of the further season. In a recent interview, the maverick Singer cited Indian Express the reason of the same, “I am a man of clear words. Nobody can tell me how to behave because we belong to that purest school of music and life. If I am asked to do it, I will do it. But will I really enjoy doing things that I don’t want to do on reality shows?”

The singer mentioned that it’s because of the OTT boom, the makers of such reality shows are offering unnecessary melodrama as they are desperate to increase their TRP. “It’s not their fault because they don’t want their program to drown. They are justified in doing things. But if I feel I cannot contribute to all that, I’d rather stay away than disappoint them.”

Sonu Nigam further said that he is judging a Bengali musical show ‘Super Singer’ on Star Jalsa. If they will also ask him to do melodrama then he will see what to do. He said, “I feel it’s (Super Singer) a show of my interest. It has Kaushiki Chakraborty and Kumar Sanu, and a purist atmosphere. I feel comfortable there and hope they won’t ask me for such melodrama. If they do, we’ll see!”

The actor-singer Sonu Nigam is celebrating his birthday on July 30. The singer has many accolades at his name. He is also making vlogs from some years. In one of his vlog Sonu had asked the makers of Indian Idol to leave Veteran Singer Amit Kumar alone when a controversy arises after the veteran’s statement on the show.
