Actor Sonu Sood stated today that his sister, Malvika Sood, will run in the Punjab elections, conducted early next year, but remained tight-lipped about the party she will represent. The actor, whose actions during the Covid crisis gained him widespread acclaim, made the revelation during a press conference in Moga, around 170 kilometres from the state capital of Chandigarh.

Mr Sood has just met with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi.

The actor reached Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who appointed him as a brand ambassador for the “Desh ka Mentors” school-student mentoring programme.

Despite being feted by politicians and political parties, Sonu Sood has always maintained that his charity has nothing to do with politics. The encounter with Mr Kejriwal sparked speculation of a political debut, maybe as an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate in the Punjab election.

“There was no talk of politics. We haven’t talked about anything political yet “At the time, Sonu Sood informed reporters. During the Covid crisis, the 48-year-old actor’s altruism earned him the moniker “messiah of migrants.”
