The most popular reality show on Indian television for decades has been ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. The show is still a super hit and the reason behind its popularity is not a hidden secret, it is all because megastar Amitabh Bachchan hosting it. The show was started two decades back and is still a hit among viewers. Indians still try their luck out to get the opportunity of sharing the Hot seat with Amitabh Bachchan. However, there were times when the show saw changes in past. The show’s makers brought another superstar ‘Shah Rukh Khan’ to host the show for some time.
Although SRK’s charm didn’t last long and Big B was brought back to host the show again. In a recent interview with Indian Express, the producer of KBC, Siddharth Basu has revealed what actually caused SRK’s exit sooner from the show.
Basu said, “What didn’t work with SRK was the comparison with AB. I think SRK did KBC in his own way with charm and wit, and as far as I know, it garnered good ratings. We have done three shows with SRK, and I believe he is one of the most natural TV hosts who can think on his feet. But let’s face it, AB will always be the ABC of KBC, and on this show, those are very big shoes to fill.”
However, the show is being criticised for gaining TRP’s through their sob stories, to which Basu clarified that how the human story has always mattered to them. “If people get emotional, that’s not engineered. That’s natural on a life-changing show before a massive audience and a larger-than-life host,” said Basu.
