Dark forests, spooky mansions, ghosts/witches and hilarious comedy – this is quickly becoming the trend in Bollywood. Horror comedies are new in and despite the fair share of horror comedies we have witnessed none of it impressed as much as Stree did. Be it the stellar star cast of Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and Pankaj Tripathi or the strong yet witty support cast featuring the likes of Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee.

The movie quickly became one of the best movies of 2018 purely on nostalgia feels and the stunning performances of the star cast. The movie was funny, had reasonable jump scares and most importantly also had a message. Each character in the film starting from Janna, Bittu and Vicky, the trio was an absolute treat to watch, making the film’s sequel a much anticipated one.
Yes, that’s right, Stree is going to have a sequel that too with all the original star cast roped in for the second installment.

“It will happen next year. We are working on the script. There are few ideas for Stree 2. The expectations are high, so the team wants to give their best shot as we are not in a hurry to make it. The core cast of Stree will be returning for the sequel,” a source told PTI.
The original film was based in Chanderi Madhya Pradesh, where an evil spirit named Stree abducts men in the night during festival season. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the movie was produced by Dinesh Vijan, Raj Nidimoru, and Krishna DK. It was based on the urban legend of Nale Ba that went viral in Karnataka in the 1990s and managed to earn a mammoth Rs 180 crore worldwide.

Elsewhere, Rajkumar Rao is set to appear in another horror-comedy named Rooh-Afza, produced under the banner of Vijan’s Maddock Films. Co-starring Jahnvi Kapoor, the movie revolves around a singing ghost who puts grooms to sleep so it can possess their brides. Rooh-Afza will reportedly share the same universe with Stree.
