Sui Dhaga is directed by Sharat Katariya and is bankrolled by Yash Raj Films. Anushka said in a statement, “Varun and Anushka relished the chance to go out of the comfort zone of being portrayed as glamorous stars. Mauji and Mamta are salts of the earth characters and these characters gave our duo the chance to really push themselves as actors.”
Sui Dhaga is produced by Maneesh Sharma and Sharat Katariya, who have won hearts with their first collaboration Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Maneesh about the choice of his heroine said, “We wanted someone who could effortlessly transform herself into a character who is intelligent, strong and expressive even in her silence. Anushka brings in the authenticity and resilient spirit as a performer and a star. Today, moviegoers want to discover and love characters that they connect with. They want to identify themselves with the story and see how convincingly and truthfully actors translate it.”
