Suman Kumari Become The First Hindu Woman Appointed As A Civil Judge In Pakistan

In Pakistan, for the very first time, Suman Kumari became the first Hindu woman who is appointed as a civil judge, as per the several media reports. Suman comes from Qambar-Shahdadkot, a district of Sindh, Pakistan. And as of now, she will serve in her native district.

According to the Dawn reports, Suman did her graduation in LLB from Hyderabad and completed her masters in law from Szabist University, Karachi.

Proud father, Pawan Kumar Bodan is elated and now Suman wants to provide free legal assistance to the poor. “Suman has opted for a challenging profession, but I am sure she will go places through hard work and honesty,” the father said.

Dhanyal Ghilani, Chairman of Central Film Censor Board took to his Twitter and announced, “Suman Pawan Bodani becomes Pakistan’s 1st female judge belonging to the Hindu community. Via Pakistan Hindu Youth Council. Daughter of Dr. Pawan Podani, Suman belongs to Shahdadkot. She stood 54th in merit list for the appointment of Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrate.”

Pawan Kumar Bodan, Suman’s father is an eye specialist and her elder sister is a software engineer and another sister is a chartered accountant.

Talking about Suman, she is a die-hard fan of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and Atif Aslam.

Earlier, coming from Hindu community, Justice Rana Bhagwandas become the first judge. He served as the acting chief justice for brief periods between 2005 and 2007. Hence, Suman is not the only one who become civil judge in Pakistan being a Hindu.
