One of the popular comedians on television, Sunil Grover turns a year older today (August 3). The actor came into limelight for his portrayal as Guthi on Comedy Nights With Kapil but gained immense popularity for his role Dr Mashoor Gulati on The Kapil Sharma Show.
The actor is currently busy with big Bollywood projects – Bharat and Pathakha. On the occasion of his birthday, let’s have a look at some of the interesting facts about the funny man, which we bet you didn’t know.
1) As a child, Sunil used to mimic his teachers-
Sunil holds a Masters degree in Theatre from Punjab University Chandigarh. He was interested in acting from his childhood. It is said that he used to mimic his teacher!
2) Sunil Acted in India’s first silent comedy show-
During his college days, he auditioned for the late satirist and comedian Jaspal Bhatti (known for his show, Flop Show) and got an opportunity to work with him. He then acted in India’s first silent comedy show, Gutur Gu (SAB TV) in the initial 26 episodes.
3) Man Behind The Voice of RJ Sud on Radio Mirchi-
Sunil hosted a popular series, Hansi Ke Phuware on Radio Mirchi for years, where he played the character of Sudharshan aka Sud. He was honoured with Radio and Television Advertising Practitioners Association of India Award for his outstanding voice-over performance.
4) The character of Guthi is real-
His character of Gutti was inspired by his college classmate. He had said that there were very few girls as compared to boys, and they had a character very much similar to Gutti!
5) Sunil was also approached for Big Boss a couple of times-
The actor was approached for Bigg Boss a couple of times, but the actor refused the offer. He says that he cannot be in the Bigg Boss house, as he will be deprived of acting for three months and he can’t fight for petty issues!
