Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai fame and television actor Aasif Sheikh, who has been in this industry for decades now, recently opened up about his struggles to get to the place he is now. Aasif, who plays Vibhuti in popular comedy show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, has won many hearts with his comic timing and his hard work and his dedication.
While talking to Times of India, Aasif revealed that there was a time when things were so ugly and sad that he had to sell the only gold chain that he had. He said, “My father had almost disowned me when I told him I would like to pursue a career in theatre. He was disappointed with my career choice and felt that theatre isn’t a career. The journey was filled with roadblocks as I wasn’t from an influential family. I had quite a tough time settling in this city as I had no money and no shelter to depend on. I had to sell off the only gold chain that I had with me to survive in the city.”
“Making my way in the theatre industry wasn’t easy as well, I worked as a theatre help in plays and essayed extremely small roles, all to get my acting career in shape. I was barely 18 when I started working for my first show…With success, my father accepted my career and welcomed me with open arms. These formative days were the toughest of my career.” Aasif Sheikh started his beautiful journey with India’s first TV serial Hum Log in 1984. And since then he has appeared in a number of TV shows and Bollywood films. The amazing actor featured in popular shows like Chandrakanta, Yes Boss, Dill Mill Gayye, CID, Chidiya Ghar and no matter what the role is, he does it with perfection always.
