Anupam Kher, a Bollywood actor, has complained about a precipitous decline in his Twitter followers. He claimed that his followers had decreased by 80,000 in the last 36 hours, and he now wants to know if it was a technical glitch or something else.
Kher addressed his tweet to Twitter’s team on Thursday, writing, “Dear @Twitter and @TwitterIndia! I’ve lost 80,000 followers over the last 36 hours! Is there a bug in your app or is something else going on!! This is a remark. Not a single complaint…yet.:)”
Currently, the Saaransh celebrity has 18.7 million Twitter followers. In September 2009, he joined the social media platform and has been an active user ever since. He frequently expresses his opinions on the platform, interacts with his fans, and promotes his work.
In response to Kher’s tweet, television and film actor Ssumier Pasricha, best known for his role as Pammi Aunty, tweeted, “Dear God, I’ve lost a lot of friends and family members in this pandemic… I see ten fewer people who loved me.. is this a software glitch or something else.. it’s just an observation. This is not a complaint…. There are more important things to worry about than Twitter followers.”
Ssumier also shared a screenshot of his tweet on Instagram, posing the question of why people are still so obsessed with social media in the midst of the pandemic. “Are we serious? That we are still concerned about our followers… are we that enamoured with social media? Nothing has been learned from this pandemic… I assumed great people thought wisely” he wrote.
On a personal level, the actor Anupam Kher is battling cancer alongside his wife Kirron Kher. Anupam Kher left his American television series New Amsterdam following her diagnosis to be with his wife during these trying times.
