Back in the days, Shatrugan Sinha and Amitabh Bachchan were the best of buddies. The two had starred together like Bombay to Goa, Parwana, Dost and a lot more. But they no longer share the same relation as they used to. Their relationship had hit the rocks amid the shooting of Yash Chopra’s Kaala Patthar.
The bond further worsened when the Bachchan family did not invite the Sinhas for Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding with Aishwariya Rai. To the families who were not invited to the wedding, the Bachchans sent a box of sweets.
The Sinhas were one of them. Evidently, Shatrugan Sinha was not overly fond of this gesture. While talking to a popular daily, the veteran actor said “Jab bulaaya nahin phir mithai kis baat ki? Amitabh had said those who had not been invited were not his friends in the first place. I won’t be put in second place and embarrass him by accepting the sweets.”
Speaking in length, the actor-turned-politician also said that he’d expected someone from the family to give a call before sending the sweets. He also revealed that apart from him, the Bachchans failed to invite Ramesh Sippy, the director of the 1975 cult classic, ‘Sholay’, Dharmendra and Hema Malini, who were both Amitabh’s co-stars in ‘Sholay’.
