Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi created a huge buzz at the box office. Earlier the movie was going to release in competition with Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30. But things turned around and Super 30 director Vikas Bahl’s exit from the biopic on Math wizard Anand Kumar, made it postponed till July. This cleared the way for Kangana Ranaut’s directorial debut Manikarnika.
Uri: The Surgical Strike was a perfect Bollywood script. The movie featured Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam and are considered another film in the biopic genre. The film was based on the surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army on September 29, 2016. It was high on patriotism and paid tribute to the spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. The film received a positive response from the critics and crossed over Rs 200- crore on its 28th day.
A couple of weeks later, Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika emerged on the big screen. In just one week, the movie made it its way to becoming a clear blockbuster. The period drama recently crossed 100 crores and translated itself into big numbers at the box office.
After movies like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy was just a treat for the audience. The movie released on Valentine’s Day and created a lot of buzz at the box office. Gully Boy stars the popular actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The movie is all about the dream and taking the leap of faith. The movie gave us the best rap music. Its a package of music, love, and dreams. Within, just six days, the movie had crossed Rs 80 crore and will be soon joining 100 crore club.
Uri, Manikarnika and Gully Boy have already set the bars high in 2019 and the audience is just praising their performances.
