Bollywood’s every director and actor is now looking forward to making a film based on someone’s life. After, the superhit Sanjay Dutt’s biopic starrer Ranbir Kapoor, now Vidya Balan will play Indira Gandhi in an adaptation of journalist Sagarika Ghose’s book Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister.
However, there are so many biopics in the pipeline like Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30, Shraddha Kapoor’s Saina Nehwal biopic, Paresh Rawal’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic, Harshvardhan Kapoor in Abhinav Bindra biopic, and Kangana Ranaut in ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’
But, this Vidya Balan’s film will be a web series rather than the usual biopic. In a conversation with the leading daily, Vidya Balan stated, “There is too much material for it be made into a film. So, we decided to turn it into a web series. We don’t know how many seasons we will be allotted to it. We are in the process of putting together a team.”
She also added, “she is glad that the long cherished dream of playing one of the most powerful personalities in the Indian history is finally being completed and she is really excited to be a part of this project. ”
However, she also spoke about the producer as Ronnie Screwvala would be producing it, “We have to do a lot more research. Developing the script will take long, as there is so much information on her. We can’t put a timeline as to when the project will go on floors,” added the actor.
When she asked if she and their team will approach the Gandhi family for permission, “We don’t require permission, as it’s based on a book and we have the rights to it, ” she added.
