Priyanka Chopra exited the film way before it went on the floor, which made the situation for the filmmakers even more critical. However, Katrina Kaif signed at the minuted after Priyanka left the film and proved no less than a blessing as she stepped in to fill her place. While there are many people that assume that  Katrina had taken up the project purely on the basis of her relationship with Salman Khan and director Ali Abbas Zafar, However, the actress told in an interview to Mid-Day her professional views on taking up this project.

“Ali and I are good friends, but when it comes to working, we are completely honest with each other. I read the script from start to finish in three hours and immediately called him to tell him that I loved it. I realized there was an opportunity of going the extra mile with this character. So, it had nothing to do with my friendship with Salman or Ali. In fact, Salman did not even call me after I signed the film. We met directly on the set,” said Katrina Kaif.

‘Bharat’ is an official variation of the 2014 South Korean drama ‘Ode To My Father’. It is the sixth film in which Katrina and Salman will be seen together. When asked about working with the Salman Khan, Katrina said, “We share a comfort level, which has developed over the years. He loves to entertain the audience. He is a simple person in real life, and he approaches his films the way he approaches life.”

Katrina’s last two films, Thugs Of Hindostan and Zero, failed to work their magic at the box-office. But she was appreciated for her portrayal of an alcoholic garnered. She was asked about how she is dealing with this and she replied, “Right now, all my energy is focussed towards work, and when such appreciation comes your way, it feels good. The credit goes to Aanand sir (Aanand L Rai, filmmaker) who told me to trust him and helped me overcome my fears,”.

The trailer of the film comes out on 24th April and The film comes out on 5th June 2019.
