WhatsApp has a lot of plans for the future and it is currently removing the ability to save a profile picture. For the Android users, the latest change has been spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta versions. It is also a part of the iPhone software as it is available on the WhatsApp Business beta for iPhone version 184.108.40.206. Recently, Whatsapp has updated the normal iPhone app to review the sticker directly from the notification bar. Users have other option as well, they can long-press a WhatsApp notification to see the received stickers in their full size. The new changes have been coming every day as Whatsapp is trying to make their app as better as they can be. The app also launched a ‘Night Mode’ to reduce eye strain for the users.
It was first reported by a user who uses WABetaInfo that WhatsApp has apparently removed the ability to save profile photos in the latest Android beta updates and WhatsApp Business for iPhone version 220.127.116.11. We were able to independently verify the change on the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.19.143.
When you view someone’s profile photo, it generally provides several options including a sharing button on your Android device. Once you tap the sharing button it brings you to more options including saving the profile picture into the gallery or sharing it to other social media platforms. However, the new update changes the, in short, it completely removes the sharing button — leaving no on-screen option to save profile photos.
However, the users can save the profile picture through one more option. They can still take a screenshot of the picture and save it to the phone’s gallery. The new change, therefore, is not applicable to the display pictures of WhatsApp groups. The change is going to be loved by the users or not, it is still not known but soon we will see some reactions regarding this.
