National Award-winning actor Zaira Wasim recently announced her “disassociation” from the field of acting, saying she was not happy with the line of work as it interfered with her faith and religion.

In a detailed post on her Facebook page, which she later shared across all social media platforms, the Kashmiri-born Dangal fame star said she realised “though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here”.

Wasim will be next seen in The Sky is Pink, which also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Farhan Akhtar. The shooting of the film was completed in March and the cast and crew recently celebrated its wrap-up party in Mumbai where Zaira was also present.

This is however not the first instance where a celeb quit their Bollywood career due to religious purposes. Earlier there were many celebs upon whom we take a look below:

1) Vinod Khanna

Vinod Khanna was at the peak of his career when he decided to call it quits to move to america as a follower of Osho. He was one of the most popular actors of the 70s 80s.

2) Sofia Hayat

A former model and Big Boss contestant, Sofia quit her career to become a nun. Sofia announced this shocking news on her Instagram and is now known as mother Sofia. She also held a press conference to speak further about her decision to pursue forward as a religious follower.

3) Mamta Kulkarni

Having done a lot of big films, Mamta Kulkarni’s decision to follow religious faith and quit Bollywood was a big shock for her fans. Mamta even informed in a recent interaction with media that in the last 12 years she had neither put on make up nor has she visited a parlor.

While the decision of celebs to follow religious faiths may come as shock, it has not happened in Bollywood for the first time.
